Dixie State University is an open enrollment institution that believes in educational access for all students. Dixie State is home to the DSU Regional Computer Crime Institute (DSUCCI), making DSU one of the first institutions of higher education in the country to offer cutting-edge, computer-based forensics training to law enforcement professionals, private industry professionals and students. DSUCCI trains students, police, prosecutors, business leaders and the public on identity theft prevention, computer crime prevention, detection and investigation. The program aims to reduce the devastating economic impact cyber crime has on our economy by educating government employees and businesses.Community involvement is a key ingredient to the success of Dixie State University. DSU furnishes a number of adult education opportunities, including the Institute for Continued Learning (ICL), which available for retired and semi-retired individuals, and the DSU Road Scholar (formerly Elderhostel) program. In addition, the Dixie Business Alliance and the Washington County Economic Development Council, which offer a number of services to area businesses, are headquartered on the DSU campus.Dixie State provides many cultural opportunities for the community, many of which are now featured in the universitys state-of-the-art Dolores Dore Eccles Fine Arts Center. Each year, Dixie States Cultural Arts program stages nearly 40 student concerts and four theater productions inside four performance venues. In addition, the Sears Art Museum Gallery is home to a number of art exhibits and displays, including the annual Sears Dixie Invitational Art Show and Sale held each February and March. DSU also sponsors the Celebrity Concert Series, the Southern Utah Heritage Choir, the Tanner Amphitheater Summer Concert Series at the mouth of nearby Zion National Park, and the Southwest Symphony and Chorale. Dixie State University Red Storm Athletics are a proud competing member of the NCAA at the Division II level. Dixie State sponsors 13 varsity sports, 12 of which compete in the Pacific West Conference, which includes teams from Hawaii and California.
