Oceanic Institute (OI) of Hawaii Pacific University is a world leader in the advancement of sustainable aquaculture technologies, and it is located at Makapuu Point. OI conducts research, education, and training, and it is home to the Master of Science in Marine Science degree program and several faculty-student research labs for the College of Natural and Computational Sciences.
