Loyola Marymount University is one of the largest Catholic universities in the West and one of 28 Jesuit universities in the United States. LMU's 142-acre campus, designated as one of the country's most beautiful, is situated on a bluff overlooking Los Angeles and the Pacific Ocean. It is the University of Silicon Beach, next door to the regional offices of Google, Yahoo, YouTube, BuzzFeed and EdgeCast Networks. At LMU, the city becomes an extension of the classroom, offering a rich diversity of culture, interests, access and opportunities. That diversity is being put to work at the university's World Policy Institute @LMU, a think-tank idea incubator launched in partnership with the WPI based in New York City. LMU, founded in 1911, is a comprehensive university offering 58 major programs and 53 minor programs for undergraduates; 48 master's degrees; two research level doctoral degrees; one professional practice doctoral degree; and 13 credential programs.
